AI agents for your industry are coming. They're not magic.

Oracle NetSuite just released a suite of AI agents aimed at specific industries. They're built to catch problems you'd normally spot yourself—if you had the time.

The tools, called SuiteAgents, sit on top of NetSuite's data model and work within the software's existing workflows. According to the announcement, they're designed to identify issues, flag what comes next, and help execute tasks in established processes. The company launched them at SuiteWorld in Las Vegas in late October.

Here's what matters: NetSuite built different versions for different industries. Software firms get agents that watch revenue retention, margins, and compliance issues across contracts and billing. Product companies get inventory guidance. Services teams get help turning statements of work into plans and flagging staffing problems. Construction firms get agents that turn estimates into budgets and handle payment applications. Healthcare gets supply and reimbursement monitoring. Nonprofits get grant compliance flagging.

The pitch is straightforward. Evan Goldberg, NetSuite's founder, said it plainly: teams miss signals because they're drowning in day-to-day work. An agent that knows your industry and your data can spot those signals and suggest what to do next. You keep the judgment call. The agent keeps you from missing it in the first place.

The interesting bit is that this isn't NetSuite trying to automate your team away. It's trying to make the team smarter about what to pay attention to. There's no magic here—the agent can only work with what NetSuite already knows about your business, and it can only recommend actions that fit NetSuite's governance rules. That's actually a strength for a consultancy or services firm. You're not getting some generic AI bullshit that hallucinates advice. You're getting something that knows your industry and your system.

SuiteAgents for software, product, and construction are available now in NetSuite Next. The others are coming later.

The question is whether this matters for your firm. If you're using NetSuite and half your week is spent trawling through data to spot the same recurring problems, an agent that flags those problems could free up time. If you're not on NetSuite or you've got a smaller practice, the expense of enterprise ERP probably still doesn't make sense.

NetSuite is playing a long game. They've got the scale and the data to do it. Pay attention to how well these agents actually work in the next year or two.
